Meet Your Counsellor
Amelia Riehl, B.A. (Psychology), M.A. (Counselling Psychology), CCC, RP (Qualifying), EMDR-trained, CCTP, CGP, C-DBT
I’m a Canadian Certified Counsellor and Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) with a Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology, and I am the Owner and Founder of One Sky Wellness. My experience has brought me alongside children, youth, adults, caregivers, and families through some of life’s more complicated seasons, with a particular interest in trauma, substance use and addiction, emotional regulation, and the experiences that shape how we learn to cope.
-
To me, therapy is about much more than reducing symptoms. It’s about making sense of your experiences, understanding yourself with greater compassion, and creating space for something to shift. I believe that you are the expert in your own life, and my role is to bring curiosity, knowledge, new perspectives, and practical tools while walking alongside you.
I also believe good therapy should feel human. You can expect me to be warm, curious, conversational, and genuinely engaged. I’ll listen closely, ask questions, offer perspective, and gently challenge you when it may be helpful. There is room for vulnerability and hard conversations, but there is also room for humour, curiosity, celebrating progress, and simply being yourself.
You don’t need to know exactly where to begin. Come as you are. We can figure out the rest together.
-
I’m not a sit-back-and-nod kind of therapist. I value therapy that feels collaborative, genuine, and responsive to the person sitting across from me. Some days we might dig deeply into an experience; other days we might focus on practical tools for getting through the week.
I’ll meet you with curiosity rather than judgment and follow your pace while still encouraging you to explore the places where meaningful change might happen. There may be tears and difficult conversations, but there will probably be some laughter too. All of it belongs here.
-
When I’m not counselling, I’m happiest when life slows down a little. You’ll often find me outside, exploring somewhere new, baking, working on a puzzle, or spending time with the people and animals I love.
Growing up in a rural community shaped my appreciation for nature, connection, community, and the ways our surroundings become part of our stories. I bring that same appreciation for the whole person into the counselling room—because none of us exists separately from the people, places, cultures, and experiences that have shaped us.
-
One Sky Wellness grew from a simple idea: life changes, people change, and none of us experience those changes in isolation.
The sky is always shifting. There are storms and clear days, darkness and light, changing seasons and new horizons. Our lives move through seasons too, and no two people experience them in quite the same way.
For me, One Sky represents both individuality and connection—the understanding that we each carry our own story while existing in relationship with the people, communities, cultures, and world around us.
Whatever your sky looks like today, there is space for you here.
The sky changes. So do we.

I work with youth, teens, adults, including caregivers and rural and northern Canadians who are navigating the complexities of life, relationships, and self—creating space for understanding, resilience, and meaningful change.
Some of the people supported include:
Youth & Teens who are working through anxiety, identity, peer relationships, school stress, or big emotions that can feel hard to manage alone.
Adults navigating life transitions, relationship challenges, family dynamics, trauma, anxiety, or substance use, who are looking for a space to make sense of their experiences and move forward.
Caregivers who are carrying a lot—balancing their own needs while supporting others—and want support, clarity, and sustainable ways to cope.
Foster parents and kinship providers navigating the unique challenges and rewards of caregiving, seeking understanding, validation, and practical support.
Social workers, school counsellors, and other helpers who hold space for others every day and need a place where they can also be supported, processed, and cared for.
People in rural and northern Canada who are experiencing the isolation and hardships that remote living brings and who are searching for accessible and quality mental health care.
People moving through seasons of change—whether expected or not—who are looking for a steady, grounded space to land.
If you’ve ever felt overwhelmed, stuck, or unsure of how to move forward, you don’t have to figure it out alone.
